Grilled Portabello Mushroom Burger




In these last few years, I have eaten less and less meat. Now, I only eat a bit of shrimp or tuna in my sushi and find amazing substitutes for everything else. I usually eat a grilled burger a few times a year. However, these grilled portabellos can be prepared for that great summer flavor on an indoor grill, anytime.

Grilled Portabello Mushroom Burger

2 large portabello mushroom caps
3 T. low sodium soy sauce
1/2 t. liquid smoke
1 t. minced garlic
1/4 t. ground pepper
1 t. sesame oil

1. Clean mushroom caps with a damp cloth to remove any grit.

2. Combine soy sauce, liquid smoke, garlic, pepper, and sesame oil in a shallow bowl. Add mushrooms and turn to coat with marinade.

3. Set aside to marinate 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Preheat grill.

4. Grill 5-8 minutes per side or until cooked through. Top with cheese, if you prefer.
